About Erica Hannagan | Experienced Melbourne Psychotherapist

M Counselling & Psychotherapy
I am a trained psychotherapist having studied Psychology and Psychophysiology at Swinburne University and Nursing Science at the University of Melbourne, and have more than 15 years of experience with psychological assessment and treatment from public psychiatry and the private sector.
I am trained in a number of modalities that most people are at least familiar with, namely Behaviour Therapies e.g. CBT, Experiential Dynamic Therapies e.g. EFT as well as Psychodynamic approaches to treatment. I now primarily practice using ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy), a modern psychodynamic approach. This method focuses on understanding how emotions, anxiety, and defense mechanisms interact to create symptoms such as depression, relationship issues, psychosomatic disorders, and anxiety attacks. I use current research and evidence-based methods to support my work as a clinician. I undergo ongoing supervision from international experts in this method to continually enhance my skills and effectiveness.
Each treatment with me is tailored to your specific needs and circumstances. Learn more about my approach to treatment here at Melbourne Dynamic Therapy.
I invite you to reach out for a preliminary conversation to explore how I can assist you. As your therapist, you will find me to be empathetic, dedicated, and well-versed in methodological approaches, with a keen ability to address the unique aspects of your situation.
